Tuesday, our trusty 95 VW Golf goes to the Good News Garage, after 11 years of service.
This weekend, we replaced it with a new 2006 Honda Civic (no hybrid this time, there’s a waiting list!). This year was a complete redesign, with some really great new features, including speed sensitive volume control on the radio, which is really cool.
Slick new interior:

Looks neat. Somehow the tach is 10 times bigger than the digital spedometer?
YEAH!!! Anne and I are very excited for both of you, especially Karen with her new purchase and can’t wait to see it.
Anne wants to know if you can save the steering wheel as a momento to hang over the fireplace in your new home!!!
The digital spedometer is really smart, the display is huge, and located right at the drivers line of sight. The tach DOES take up like half the display, which is weird on an automatic, sort of worthless, but I guess it’s pretty cool to look at. Another cool new thing is this gadget that can somehow sense oil breakdown and tell you how much life you have left with your current oil-load. I bet the algorithm to compute oil wear is very complicated. If (mileage mod 3000) = 0, change oil. QED.
The good news garage actually comes to my house to get the car. I just leave the title, signed over to them, with the keys on the front seat, unlocked, they take off my plates, put on dealer plates, and drive it away. I don’t even need to be home.
Wow I probably shouldn’t have just posted that on the internet, huh.
I just got a call from the Good News Garage. They put about 1500 bucks worth of work into the car, and they were able to give it to a needy family. Perfect!
