Secret new US Weapon?

I read here that the U.S. military is planning to introduce a “massive new weapon” in the upcoming war on Iraq. It’s basically a gigantic 21,000 pound bomb, nicknamed “MOAB” (Massive Ordnance Air Burst). “Sources” claim that the net effects of this terrible new weapon are similar to that of a small atomic bomb. That sucks.
I thought the name was interesting. I dug deep into the recesses of my dirty little brain, and recalled that during the late 40’s and early 50’s prospectors flocked to Moab, Utah (including the great Utah Phillips) to mine uranium. At the time, Uncle Sam was buying the stuff like mad to support nuclear weapons development. Is this a coincidence? Who knows. I bet crazy conspiracy theorists would argue that this new weapon is secretly just a new nuclear device hidden inside of this giant bomb casing. Unfortunately, we’ll probably be finding out pretty soon.
