My New Hybrid
Jan 22nd, 2003 by Nate
Last saturday I bought a new Honda Civic Hybrid.

I went through Cars Direct. They made the whole process super easy, and their prices were outstanding. I got a little hosed on the trade-in, but that wasn’t such a big deal, my old car was a piece of crap anyway.
I love this car! Here’s a picture of the engine

It gets CRAZY gas mileage, like 49 on the highway and 48 in the city or something like that. Plus it shuts off when you stop at an intersection. That takes a little getting used to. For more info on the hybrid, you can visit Honda’s web site.
AND on top of all of that, I can also take a $2000 tax deduction for 2003 since it’s an ultra low emission vehicle.

That E.Honda site doesn’t work:
“You are running an outdated or unsupported browser.
We recommend Internet Explorer 5+ or Netscape 4.7+ for both Windows and Macintosh platforms.”
I guess Mozilla 1.2.1 is not considered “Netscape 4.7+”.
Yeah that SUPER pisses me off. They made “improvements” to their site a few weeks ago, one of the improvements was “Only works with one browser, and slower”. I’m mega-boycotting their site.
The only honorable thing to do is return the car.
Excellent choice, its nice to see that their are still people in the world smart enough to avoid the evil SUV.
What motivated you more cool technology or planet/people friendly low emissions?
I bought it for a couple of reasons.
1) It was PACKED full of exciting new technology. After you drive it, you secretly wonder why ALL cars don’t work like this.
2) Great Gas Mileage
3) Low emissions
4) I’m an avid SUV hater. I LOVE getting into pissing contests with SUV enthusiasts. Idiots.
5) My last name is Suver. Get it? SUV-er. Must make sure that everyone knows I hate SUV’s, because my last name throws them off.
I actually got into the thick of it with one of the SUV morons at work this morning. I told him that the hybrid is very quiet when it’s running (obviously because it has a very small, super efficient engine). He proceeded to tell me that that was a safety hazard for animals and small children, because they EXPECT to hear a car when it is coming towards them. That particular argument made Walde completely explode, he turned purple, it was great. I could actually devote an entire webpage listing all of the pro-SUV arguments, that would make for some fine comedy.
