Daryl got struck by lightning, and it made CNN! (scroll down to the “soldiers” part of the article). He was at guard duty, at a firing range, sitting on metal bleachers in a metal shed, which I’ve been told is not the optimal place to be in a lightning storm. His entire unit got hit. He’s in the hospital right now. Lazy ass. Get back out there and fight! (he’ll be fine).

Daryl is officially the badest-ass in the entire world.

We did a tag sale last saturday, and it was a resounding success.
Some of the highlights:

- We must have sold over 80% of our stuff. If you were to “blend” all our stuff into one big homogenized mass, we unloaded about 90% of our original mass.

- People amaze me. They buy the weirdest sh*t. Remember a few months ago, when I redid my bathroom? Someone actually bought my old sink. 5 bucks. And I was just going to throw it out. Amazing. I was actually kind of happy, because there was nothing wrong with it, and they guy really seemed like he needed one.

- Sold Karen’s old computer, (a Dell Dimension, 1.8 ghz,256 megs o’ ram, 40 gigga). This was a very hot item, lots of interest in it. 125 bucks.

- I met, for the first time, a professional tag saler. And it is everything you would expect. JUST like the comic book guy from the Simpsons. Dangerously overweight, extremely haughty and overbearing, and a cutthroat deal maker. He would try to haggle you down on 10 cent items. I’m not kidding.

- We had at least one customer who was a professional ebayer! They troll the local (and sometimes not local) tag sales, clean the stuff up, and resell on ebay. I’ll post the guy’s ebay account soon. Our stuff should be up next week.

- For future reference: When doing a tag sale, post ads in at least 2 local papers, post signs on at least 2 major roads near the sale with signs at every turn, and be prepared to wake up at an ungodly hour to begin setting up. People LOVE to come ridiculously early.

I used to watch Law and Order pretty religiously, and whenever I would watch and see this guy
Thompson
I would scratch my head, because he looked REALLY familiar. Which “one” was he from? L&O: Special Prosecutors Victims Crime Scene Unit Montreal? Who even knows.
Then I read this article on CNN. I’ve seen him on C-SPAN! He was a senator for almost 10 years (replaced Gore in the early 90’s). El-Presidente has picked him to weed through new Supreme court nominees, which just completely blows my mind.
Why not this guy?

Or this guy?

Or this guy?

Oh wait, maybe you can’t play deputy district attorney to get selected. I guess that makes sense. I guess if I had to pick between Fred Thompson and Steven Hill I would pick Fred Thompson. He’s more of an asshole in the show, got more balls.

Deputy Chief of Staff Mariska Hargitay, your thoughts?
