So the other day I get a message on my TiVo saying that I’m getting all these exciting new features, like the ability to view pictures and play mp3s from my computer on my tivo, which I will admit is a mostly useless display of tivo’s mighty linux muscle, but who cares I’m a giant dork and I love this stuff. Anyway one of the features I get is the ability to have tivo connect to my home network through a wireless adapter, so no more phone cord, which is pretty cool. So I’m like reasonably happy, so I go onto ebay and find a used usb wireless adapter pretty cheap, everything is going great, blah blah blah.. well I finally decide to actually read tivo’s fine print, and I guess that even though I’m a lifetime subscriber all this extra fancy new stuff is part of a “premium subscriber package”, which costs me an extra 100 bucks. What a load of crap. I guess my original 250 bucks wasn’t good enough for those bourgeois tivo cocksuckers.
Anyone else have any gripes about TiVo’s draconian pricing strategies?
(Note: Other than this minor setback, TiVo is about the greatest thing ever.)
Discovered a new hobby today, model rocketry. We bought a rocket, a launch pad, some propellant cartridges, and an ignition switch and headed over to a top secret undisclosed location somewhere in connecticut. After finding a good open spot that was shielded reasonably well from the wind, we did the first launch, and it was a beauty (unfortunately our camera’s battery died so I don’t have any vids to show). It went up about 700 feet, and a few seconds after it’s apogee the parachute charge ignited and the parachute sent it safely towards earth. On launch #2 the rocket appeared to go much higher, and after the parachute deployed some wind blew it off course, and it landed on top of a huge tree, ending our fun. We immediately headed over to the hobby shop and bought 3 more rockets, one of which I am building this week. I will christen it the “S.S. Homer Vs. Kidd”. The new rocket can fly about 1/4 mile, but it’s still under the 1 pound limit. Anything over 1 pound needs FAA approval.
Next week I’ll have a fully charged camera, and I’ll post video of the launch.
I just found out today that I have captured the top 2 pageranks in a google search for the word “Suver“. I’ve finally become more popular than my arch-nemesis, swedish rock band “Suver Nuver”. I would give you a link to their site, but I’m afraid it may add the one link necessary to push them back to the top. And I cannot allow that to happen.
Yeah by the way I’m also pagerank 1 for
“Gubment“. How good is that?
I just finished reading Lucky Wander Boy the other day. Damn good read; I highly recommend it.
I’m also reading Steven Pinker’s
The Blank Slate right now, also highly recommended.
